CWSK runs a rapid response and rescue of children in its branches.
Whenever a case of child abuse or exposure to detrimental risk is reported to our offices, we respond immediately and rescue the child (ren).
Through this programmme, CWSK rescues children in need of temporary care and protection CWSK has ten temporary places of safety country wide .i.e Mama Ngina Children’s Home- Nairobi county, Mji wa salama Children’s Home-Mombasa county, Kisii Children’s Home-Kisii county, Kanduyi Children’s Home- Bungoma county, Arap Moi Children’s Home-Nakuru county, Karen foster family, Nairobi county-Nanyuki Children’s Home-Laikipia county, Embu Children’s Home -Embu county, Isiolo Children’s Home-Isiolo county, Murang’a Children’s Home-Murang’a county.
CWSK offers shelter and safe houses to the rescued children who, for one reason or another, have not found alternative families and have to be placed in the children homes temporarily as reintegration back to homes or another alternative is sought.
The CWSK temporary places of safety places caters for at least 1,200 children per day. Since inception, CWSK is known for its effective rapid response in rescue for children in need of urgent rescue, shelter, health and other services.
Referrals are mainly done by the district children’s officers, the police, provincial administration, hospitals and CBO’s working with children.
The places of safety provide services to three or four neighbouring counties through which a wider threshold is attained in the protection of children.
